Responding to Rancher Priorities

Surveys and industry reports consistently show that ranchers are looking for tools that go far beyond basic management. More than half of producers now identify access to reliable, real-time weather data as a top priority for sustaining their operations. That demand reflects the growing pressures ranchers face from increasingly unpredictable conditions, droughts, flash floods, and severe storms are no longer rare events but recurring challenges that affect both livestock and land. Without timely insights into rainfall, temperature swings, and wind conditions, ranchers are left vulnerable to risks that can erode grazing capacity, reduce forage quality, and place animal welfare at risk. This shift highlights how weather monitoring has become as essential as water access in day-to-day ranching decisions.

Expanding Environmental Insights

Water has long been at the heart of ranching concerns, with many producers struggling to balance limited resources against herd demands, rising costs, and tightening environmental regulations. But water is only part of the equation. Ranchers increasingly recognize that they need a fuller picture of their environment in order to make sustainable choices. Monitoring rainfall, soil moisture, humidity, and seasonal temperature trends can directly inform grazing rotations, feed strategies, and long-term land stewardship. With beef demand strong and cattle prices at record highs, the margin for error has grown even smaller: misjudging conditions can quickly lead to overgrazed pastures, health problems in herds, and financial losses. As a result, integrated environmental data is emerging as a critical tool for ranchers who want to stay resilient in the face of climate shifts, labor shortages, and volatile markets.

A First for Remote Ranching

Ranchbot, the ag-tech company known for helping ranchers remotely monitor water resources, has announced a new partnership designed to give producers more accurate and accessible weather data in even the most remote locations. The company has teamed up with Davis Instruments, a leading manufacturer of weather stations with more than 200,000 global users, to integrate Davis’s advanced weather monitoring technology directly into the Ranchbot ecosystem.

The result is the Ranchbot-integrated Davis Weather Station Vantage Pro 2, which will deliver comprehensive and reliable weather data straight to ranchers’ MyRanchbot dashboards. The stations are connected via Ranchbot’s exclusive satellite network, enabling ranchers in off-grid or low-connectivity areas to access real-time weather insights that can directly inform grazing and livestock decisions.

While weather stations are not new to agriculture, the satellite-enabled integration offered through Ranchbot is unique. Most weather stations require either cellular or Wi-Fi connectivity, making them impractical for many ranches located far from reliable service. By using its proprietary satellite network, Ranchbot ensures that data flows continuously to ranchers regardless of their location.

For producers managing herds across vast and sometimes rugged terrain, this innovation could be a game-changer. Reliable weather data can improve grazing decisions, support animal welfare by anticipating heat stress or extreme cold, and help ranchers better manage feed and water resources.

About Ranchbot

Ranchbot Monitoring Solutions is the wholly owned U.S. subsidiary of Farmbot Monitoring Solutions and a leader in the RanchTech sector. Based in Fort Worth, Texas, Ranchbot delivers innovative remote monitoring solutions that provide ranchers with real-time visibility of their on-ranch water infrastructure and resources. With a mission to improve productivity, sustainability, and resilience across the ranching industry, Ranchbot empowers landholders with data-driven insights that support better decision-making.

“The company has experienced phenomenal growth over recent years but we’re really just getting started in the USA under Ranchbot Monitoring Solutions,” says Andrew Coppin, Co-Founder and CEO of Ranchbot in a recent press release.

Now, they are set to tap the market for their series B capital raise later this month after having seen massive growth since its formal launch in the country 18 months ago.

It is apparent that the industry needs innovation, as the country encounters critical issues like:

That change is coming from innovations in tech.

The broad scale adoption of Ranchbot’s technology is ramping up as Ranchers, Dairy Operations and managers of wildlife seek to reduce labour, fuel and maintenance costs across their operations and improve productivity.

“Establishing our head office in Forth Worth has been an excellent decision as we are in the heartland of beef cattle, ranch education and wildlife management,” says Ranchbot CEO, Andrew Coppin

“We have experienced triple digit growth in our core metrics as our customers realise, they have to find better ways to be more efficient, conserve water and be proactive in looking after livestock, especially now with Beef Cattle prices at all-time highs.“

As climate variability increases and operational costs rise, access to accurate weather data is becoming more essential than ever for ranchers and land managers.
